Services DEOK Offers to their members:

Apart from the unions supports to the employees which aims for their rights, DEOK offers a number of other services to satisfy the needs of the members. The most important services are the following:

• Medical Insurance: All the members of DEOK and their families are entitled to visit doctors assigned by the union free of charge, which are of different practices. Medicines are offered by the pharmacy of DEOK or from selective pharmacies with a discount of 50%, meanwhile on special occasions discounts are made on a laboratory and medical checkups and hospitalization.

• Bank Accommodation: DEOK has made an agreement with Cyprus Popular Bank for offering loans and or facilitating urgent financial needs through credit to its constituents.

• Welfare Fund: Today DEOK has two welfare Funds, one for the union members – craftsmen employees government and the other for the Construction/Carpenters. Both funds provide subsides to their members for vocation and support members in case of emergency.

• Legal Services: DEOK provides to its member’s legal information as well as the support to handle better the legal problems at work.

• Newspaper “Solidarity”: Solidarity is DEOK’s newspaper which is published biweekly and it aims to communicate and inform their members of the progress for the issues at work, the society and the modern progress. The newspaper is distributed to all members by post and it is free of charge.

• Worker’s Resort: DEOK has its own worker’s resort up in the mountains of Troodos. It has several apartments of which are fully furnished. It is a good place for relaxation and rest for workers and their families.

• Children Camping: Thousands of young children from Cyprus and from other countries meet every year and communicate in a climate of friendships and brotherhood, where experienced educator help the children to familiarize with the basic rules of self-preservation and cohabitation (leaving together) with other people.

• Department of Working Women: The aim of this is to have the active participation of the woman in the society, work environment and in all the levels of political and social institutions. This department has developed an action plan for organizing educational seminars and other events, which concerns the role of the woman in the society.


• Youth Council: The department of youth aims to promote and solve the problems which concern the young people at work, in upgrading their knowledge and take advantage of their free time. This council organizes cultural events, educational seminars, sport events and other activities, which are of interest to young people.

• Vocational training and education: The Federation offers training through a comprehensive and continuous program of vocational and labour training to its activists as well as worker members.


Area of future concentration for the DEOK in offering or expanding its servises.

• Training on the new European labour market environment in respect to workers rights and social cohesion.

• Specialized services targeted to three major categories of employees or eligible employees.

-Working Women and men with family responsibilities.

-Youth trying to enter the labour market, seeking employment.

-Migrant workers in the Cypriot economy.

-Tool or instrument for services (women + migrants)
